Chapter 10 · 10.4
Downloading and installing on Linux (deb and rpm)
For Linux, Nextcloud Office is available as a .deb package (Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint and similar) and as a .rpm package (Fedora and similar). Choose whichever suits your Linux system.
| Your Linux | Package | Download (x64) |
|---|---|---|
| Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS | .deb | Linux .deb |
| Fedora and other systems with dnf | .rpm | Linux .rpm |
Our download buttons are for standard 64-bit PCs (x64). Do you have a computer with an ARM processor (arm64 or aarch64)? Then use the package repository below, as it has both versions.
Installing with a downloaded package
On many Linux versions, you simply double-click the downloaded file and install it with the software store. Prefer the terminal? Go to the Downloads folder and type:
- Ubuntu and Debian: sudo apt install ./Nextcloud-Office-DesktopEditors-latest-linux-x64.deb
- Fedora: sudo dnf install ./Nextcloud-Office-DesktopEditors-latest-linux-x64.rpm
After that, Nextcloud Office appears in your menu of programs.
Installing via the package repository (with automatic updates)
Nextcloud has its own package repository. The advantage: the program gets updated along with your regular system updates, and it works on both x64 and ARM64.
Ubuntu and Debian:
- sudo install -d -m 0755 /etc/apt/keyrings
- sudo curl -fsSL https://download.nextcloud.com/office/repo/nextcloud-office.asc -o /etc/apt/keyrings/nextcloud-office.asc
- echo "deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/nextcloud-office.asc] https://download.nextcloud.com/office/repo/deb stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nextcloud-office.list
- sudo apt update and then sudo apt install nextcloud-office-nextcloudoffice
Fedora: create the file /etc/yum.repos.d/nextcloud-office.repo with this content:
[nextcloud-office]
name=Nextcloud Office
baseurl=https://download.nextcloud.com/office/repo/rpm/stable/$basearch
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
repo_gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://download.nextcloud.com/office/repo/nextcloud-office.asc
Then type sudo rpm --import https://download.nextcloud.com/office/repo/nextcloud-office.asc and sudo dnf install nextcloud-office-nextcloudoffice.
These steps come from the official documentation of Euro-Office. Then connect your WebOké Nextcloud, see Linking the program to your WebOké Nextcloud.
Please note: don't install both the downloaded package and the package from the package repository. Choose one method, otherwise you'll end up with the program installed twice.
