End-to-end encryption gives you a digital vault within your Nextcloud. Enable E2EE on a folder and all files in it are encrypted with a key that only exists on your device.
The files are then completely unreadable to anyone - including us, hackers or governments - unless you open them on your device. Ideal for passports, contracts or medical records.
We protect your files in several ways: 1. Trash bin - deleted files first go to the trash bin for 30 days. 2. File versions - previous versions of every file are kept, so you can always go back. 3. System backups - we make automatic daily backups of your entire server, stored in a separate data centre.
