Using AI in your Nextcloud with your own API key
With Nextcloud Family and Nextcloud Max you can use AI in your own Nextcloud. You connect your own account with an AI provider. For now WebOké does not charge for this.
What can it do?
- Chat with the Assistant in your Nextcloud.
- Summarise, rewrite and translate texts.
- With OpenAI also create images and turn speech into text.
What do you need?
An API key from one of these providers: Mistral (processing in the EU), OpenAI or Anthropic Claude. You pay the provider yourself per use. A subscription such as ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro does not work here: you really need an API key.
How to turn it on
- Go to My Products and open your Nextcloud package.
- On the card AI in your Nextcloud, choose your provider and paste your API key.
- Click Check and turn on. We check the key with the provider and set everything up. This usually takes less than a minute.
- Open your Nextcloud and choose the Assistant.
Privacy
We do not store your key: it goes encrypted straight to your own Nextcloud. The texts you give to the AI go to the provider you choose. If you want everything to stay in the EU, choose Mistral.
Your own key per user
Every user of your Nextcloud can also set their own key under Personal settings, Artificial intelligence.
Turning it off
On the same card, click Turn off AI. Your key is then removed from your Nextcloud and the Assistant disappears. Your files stay where they are.
