In iOS it is very easy to synchronize the contacts and calendar from your Nextcloud account with your iPhone.
In this article we explain in a few steps how to do this.
Important: Due to the additional 2FA security that we have active on every account, synchronization can only be set up with an app password.
When creating your Nextcloud account, you received an app password via email, which you can use for this. In this article we also explain how to create a new app password if needed.
Step 1 - Log in to your Nextcloud server and click on your profile in the top right. Click on Settings in the dropdown menu
Step 2 - Click on Security in the left menu
Step 3 - Scroll all the way down and enter a recognizable name for the app password in the field, in this case we use 'iphone'.
Then click on 'Create new app password'
Step 4 - Then enter your Nextcloud account password in the pop-up and keep this screen open.
Step 5 - Take your iPhone and open settings, search for 'CalDAV' at the top and click on 'Add Account'.
Step 6 - Click on 'Other'
Step 7 - Choose one of the two options here, the process is the same.
CardDAV - For synchronizing your contacts
CalDAV - For synchronizing your calendars
Step 8 - Fill in all fields.
Server - This is the url of the Nextcloud server, in this case example.webokecloud.nl.
Username - This is the username of your Nextcloud account, here you can enter the username or email address
Password - For this you need the app password and we need to go back to your Nextcloud server.
There you see the password in the pop-up, this must be entered on the iPhone.
Tip: If you have a Mac, you can copy the password on the Mac and paste it directly on your iPhone.
Description - This is filled in automatically, this is the description of the account as it is displayed on the iPhone.
After all fields are filled in, click on 'Next'.
Step 9 - Select which items you want to synchronize in the next screen and click on 'Save'.
Step 10 - Done! The calendar and/or contact list are now added to your iPhone and can be found in the standard iOS apps, when you add an item it is immediately synchronized with your Nextcloud server and other devices.
