With the Nextcloud app you can easily connect your iPhone to your Nextcloud server, so you always have access to all your files from your iPhone.
Because we enable 2FA by default as a security measure for every account, you cannot log into the account on the iPhone with the normal login credentials. We'll explain more about this below.
Step 1 - Install the Nextcloud App from the App Store.

Step 2 - Go to your Nextcloud server on your PC or laptop and log into your account there, then click on your profile in the top right corner.
Step 3 - Click on 'Settings' in the dropdown menu
Step 4 - Click on 'Security' on the left
Step 5 - Scroll all the way down in this screen to 'Devices & sessions'.
Here we will create a secure app password that can be used to establish a connection with the iPhone app.
Enter a recognizable name in the field (in this case 'iPhone') and then click on 'Create new app password'.
Step 6 - Then you'll see the unique app password that has been created in the pop-up.
The easiest option is to choose 'Show QR code for mobile apps' here.
TIP: As a security measure, you also need app passwords for setting up CalDAV connections to link your calendar to an external app and for setting up CardDAV connections to link your contacts with external apps.
You can create those app passwords in the same way.
Step 7 - Open the Nextcloud app on your iPhone and click on 'Log in'.
Step 8 - Click on the QR code symbol and scan the QR code shown in the browser on your PC, you will then be logged in directly.
Step 9 - Done! You now have access to all your files.
In the settings of the Nextcloud app you'll find numerous settings that allow you to determine how you want to synchronize files, you can also automatically upload photos, for example.
This method with app passwords adds an extra security layer to your Nextcloud account, so now an external connection can only be established when a special app password is created for it.
You can disconnect external connections at any time by deleting the app password.
