Migrating a website to different hosting starts with ordering a hosting plan. Tick the free migration service (standard from Webhost Two upwards) and we will contact you with the next steps for the website migration. You share the FTP and database details of your current host, we copy the complete website to our servers, test everything, and only once you approve do we change the DNS. The web hosting migration is done without noticeable downtime and your website stays reachable during the whole process. We agree on the lead time together.

The hosting migration itself is free from Webhost Two upwards for one website. On the smallest Webhost One plan the web hosting migration is a one-off €50. Want to migrate multiple websites? Every additional website costs a one-off €25. For 3 or more websites we can arrange a custom price together.

Very little. You share the login details of your current hosting (FTP and database) and cancel your old hosting after the migration. We cannot migrate email from every provider without knowing your mailbox password — and we would rather not. If we cannot migrate the mail without a password, you can do it yourself using our handy mail migration tool. You only need to recreate the mailbox with us, fill in the login details in the tool and the rest happens automatically.

That depends on the size and complexity of the site. A small blog is often ready the same day, a large webshop with lots of products can take longer. The bottleneck in a website migration is usually not copying (that is fast), but testing and your approval for the DNS switch. Throughout the process we are transparent about the expected lead time.

All website files, the complete database, email mailboxes including contents (depending on the provider), email forwards, DNS configuration and cron jobs. A new SSL certificate via Let's Encrypt is set up automatically. The website migration therefore also covers email and related items - you do not need to set up 3 separate services. Complex server-level configurations, custom PHP extensions and external payment connections (Stripe, PayPal, Mollie webhooks) you need to re-register yourself.

That depends on your current provider. If your provider uses DirectAdmin or we have access to the mail files, we can usually do this for you. If we do not have that access, we cannot migrate the email as part of the migration service. We do have a handy tool that lets you do this yourself easily. You recreate the mailboxes with us, fill in the login details of the mailbox on the old provider and on our server, and the mail (including folders) is transferred automatically.

Usually this is possible. It depends on the configuration and setup. If migrating the staging site takes as much work as the main site, the cost is €25.

Absolutely! Migrating a WordPress website is our specialty, but you can also do it yourself with Installatron — we have extensive documentation for that. We do a WordPress migration daily, complete with themes, plugins and uploads. We set wp-config.php correctly, ensure permalinks and the media library stay intact, and check PHP compatibility in advance.

Yes. It is not very different from migrating a normal website, we just pay extra attention to migrating the most recent data from the database so that no orders or payments are lost.

Our web hosting is suitable for most websites: blogs, company sites, portfolios, small-to-medium webshops, membership sites, and WordPress sites of any size. For very large webshops with 100,000+ products or sites with more than 10,000 visitors per day, a VPS or dedicated solution is better — and if you require an SLA and a direct line with an account manager, we are not quite the right partner.

In most cases no. We first copy your website to our servers without changing DNS - your site remains reachable on the old server during that step. Only after our tests and your approval do we change DNS. By lowering TTL settings in advance, the switch is active worldwide within minutes. In practice visitors notice nothing of the migration. To be honest: a theoretical window of a few seconds is always there, but not visible to visitors.

That almost never happens, but if it does, your original site on the old server is still fully intact. We first make a complete copy and test on our servers, only then do we change DNS. If something turns out wrong during testing, we fix it before the switch. If problems arise after the switch, we roll back the DNS if necessary.

As long as you have FTP or SSH access and database access, we can migrate the website, whether it is a WordPress migration, WooCommerce webshop or custom PHP application.

No, quite the opposite. Only cancel after the migration is complete and you have verified that everything works on our servers. Cancelling before the migration means risk of data loss. The usual notice period at Dutch hosts is one month, so plan generously. On this page you can find per popular host how to cancel and request the transfer code.

Not required, but recommended. Your domain can stay with your current registrar, but then you continue to pay there for domain registration and DNS management stays there. It is easier to also transfer the domain to WebOké so everything is in one place.
